The Shivering Episode

1st Nov was the most difficult day for me. Thank god it has passed now. The night when I published my last post, my mother was doing well. The fever was down and it was down for last 3 days. The doctor has said that she has passed the first phase of dengue in which the patient is in fever so for the last 3 days she was in recovery phase.

A day before yesterday morning around 4 o’clock she started to feel cold the doctor gave the medicines and it got suppressed in next 2 hours. Around 7 o’clock she started shivering due to cold, the doctor gave immediate relief medicines and it did got suppressed but the shivering lasted for about 20 minutes or so and it was the most difficult time of my life. The shivering was gone after that but the fever was there and the maximum recorded fever was 104.6 degrees. I was feeling so helpless the entire time. The doctor said it was due to some secondary infection because the dengue fever doesn’t come with shivering.

The body cooled down at noon but the recorded temperature was 100 degrees. The fever got down around 1 o’clock eventually but my mother was too weak to stand, too weak to even talk properly. I am certainly not putting even 5 % of what I was actually feeling at time. As I am writing this it just feels like I am sharing the events in sequence in a very robotic way and I certainly do not have the the writing skills to write down what I was actually going through at that time.

The good news is that I along with my cousin Saquib religiously followed giving liquid after that episode with an interval of 10 minutes, we gave water, enerzal solution and coconut water. We followed this routine the entire day till now as I am writing this at 12 o’clock in the night. By the grace of God and all your prayers she is able to talk, walk and she even comb her hair before going to bed and she is doing fine. The report for the morning test showed an increase to 87k platelets count . I am very happy with the progress she has made so far. Thank you Allah for everything, thank you all of you for praying for my mother. Thank you so much.
